Central City Parkway to get lighting by June
Gamers looking for a good time in Central City have a bright future. The gaming hamlet, long overshadowed by its more prosperous neighbor Black Hawk, will begin installing street lights on the Central City Parkway next month.
The lighting - financed by city dollars - is intended to quell travelers' concerns about safety while enhancing comfort on the 8.4-mile, four-lane parkway that opened Nov. 19. Construction will begin in February, with the goal of lighting 2.8 miles of road by June. Another mile will follow later this year, with the remaining portion scheduled for 2006.
